There’s a lot of different tasks I do during my shift at Rocky Mountain Chocolate, but I spend most of my time helping customers and taking their orders. As a cashier, I ring up each item they chose, and accept their payment. If they pay in cash, then I give them their change. Other times I will focus on wrapping and labeling fudge and caramel, or bagging candies that we put on display in the store. I also answer the phone and organize DoorDash and online orders. I started working at Dairy Queen when I was 14; it was my first real job. The first month I mostly made “chill” food items, which included ice cream, shakes, malts, and frappes. I occasionally washed and sanitized dishes and food trays, and I also swept and mopped the kitchen and dining areas. Throughout my shift I would wipe down tables and clean any messes in the dining part of the store. I restocked the cake display and the backup products. Once I had more experience, I worked as a cashier, processing payments and distributing change. This job helped me to develop my customer service skills, as I frequently communicated with customers involving orders and complaints. Show less
