In the Hunter Material and Catalysis Group, I'm developing a high-throughput technique for optimizing transition metal nitride catalysts and paving the way for greener ammonia production. The project is a collaboration of our group with the Cira Biomedical Engineering Lab at Cornell University and is funded by the International Institute for Nanotechnology. As a chemical engineer, I devise high-precision liquid handlers, pulsed-laser-ablation reactors, and printed circuit boards for catalyst synthesis and electrochemical performance testing. I also code and troubleshoot MATLAB programs for liquid handler fabrication as well as laser pathways and functions. Show less

Partnering with Shirley Ryan AbilityLab, I conducted two ten-week projects in a team of four to design a winterized foot protection for stroke survivors, as well as an accessible closet for Parkinson's and osteoarthritis patients. As an engineer, I constructed and iterated mockups within stakeholders' specifications and executed user testing and performance testing. I also communicated designs with stakeholders through orthographic sketching, isometric sketching, and interactive light-board presentation. The final products were implemented in the patients' daily lives finally. Show less

Hoping to reduce the gap between underprivileged high school students and higher education abroad, I utilized my experience to strategize with public high schoolers to develop application materials. In the mentorship team, I designed and co-hosted study-abroad workshop for 30 public high school students with an emphasis on standardized test preparation, essay brainstorming, and academic advising; resulting in applicant admission to Cornell University, Northwestern University, the University of British Columbia, and other institutions. Aspired to effectively approach environmental problems from the underlying chemistry, I conducted research in the field of green hydrogen in my high school senior year. My scope of work included designing experiments, synthesizing catalysts, characterizing materials, analyzing data, and writing article for publication. For the photocatalytic water splitting project, I identified reactor leaching and designed catalyst modifications independently, resulting in a gas yield 164-fold of the previous highest record in the lab. • Founder and President
      • Sep 2020 - Jun 2022

Unplastify Youth is an environmental nonprofit I founded with a vision to eliminate single-use plastics in the Taipei area with a population of 6.8M. As the founder and leader, I trained a project development team of six to design quantitative deplastifying programs for grocery stores and boba shops. I also led a marketing team of six to negotiate with 36 business partners and raise 3.3K USD through crowdfunding. In total, we saved 37k plastic bags from entering waste and landfill. The organization also spoke as keynote at the Aisa and Oceania Leaders Academy conference and National Education Radio of Taiwan. Show less
