For two years (Fall 2016- Spring 2018), I worked in a preschool classroom as a teacher assistant. As part of my role, I assisted the lead teacher with snack preparation and administration, setup and cleanup of activity stations, and transitions. Furthermore, I facilitated the children’s play by providing them with questions and suggestions to build off of their ideas. I also provided the children with suggestions on how to resolve conflicts upon encounter. Additionally, I completed online modules on child development, safety procedures, and emergency preparedness. During fall 2019 I continued working in the preschool classroom but I also started working in the infant classroom. Show less

As part of the Leadership Alliance Summer Research Early Identification Program, I served as a research assistant in a psychology lab at the University of Virginia. I conducted research in Dr. Bethany A. Teachman’s Program for Anxiety, Cognition, and Treatment (PACT) lab. I proposed a research question based on existing data from spider anxiety mouse-tracker task. Moreover, I investigated the relationship between approach/avoidance behavior and neuroticism by analyzing the aforementioned data utilizing the statistical program R. I also conducted a literature review and wrote a research paper based on findings from data analysis. Additionally, I presented my research findings at the Leadership Alliance National Symposium in Hartford, CT. Show less

As part of the Wellesley College Science Center Summer Research Program, I served as a research assistant in Professor Christen Deveney’s Mechanisms of Affect Dysregulation lab at Wellesley College. I explored how people with varying levels of irritability perceive different intensities of anger in faces. In order to do so, I collaborated with a lab mate and created 15 morphed faces for the face emotion labeling task, created scripts to analyze our data using SPSS, and assembled a survey composed of irritability and aggression questionnaires. Additionally, I presented my research at the poster presentation at the end of the program. The following semester (Fall 2017), I continued working in the lab and assisted in launching the study via Amazon MTurk and analyzing the data. Show less
