When I joined the Maritime Museum it was undergoing expansion and the development of a conservation laboratory. The lab's missiom is to stabilize historically significant artifacts and engage in historical research on these items. Initially these were cannons, anchors and other war materiel relating to the War of Independence and the War of 1812 - items recovered from the bottom of Lake Champlain. As the lab's reputation grew work came from forts in NY, other lakes. the Atlantic Ocean and superfund sites. Since I choose to work part time I perform a support role in the lab.Previously I worked for the Raytheon Company in various senior engineering and engineering management positions. The most intense activity was on highly successful complex radar systems for the military.Experience:Conservator, Lake Champlain Maritime Museum (LCMM), 1993 to presentSenior Systems Engineer, Raytheon Company, 1966 to 1992Reliability Engineering Manager, Northrup Corporation, 1960 to 1966Education: BSEE, Pratt Institute, 1952Honors and awards:Institue of Electricaland Electronic Engineers(IEEE) - Recognition for several presentations at technical symposia.Raytheon Company - Award for the preparation and delivery of several technical papers.State of Massachusetts - Registration as Professional Engineer in Electronics.IEEE - Recognition as a Life Member.Vermont Society of Engineers - Reccognition as a Life Member.LCMM - Recognition for technical contributions to research reports and to the doctoral dissertation of archaeologist Scott McLaughlin.Toastmasters International - Advanced Public Speaking Award.Skills:+ Artifact conservation and analysis.+ Artifact documentation+ Laboratory management.+ Radar Systems Engineering.+ Report preparation and delivery.+ Public speakng.Interests:Hiling, mountain climbing, X-C skiing, bicycling, history, music, Toastmasters.
