Medical Social Work Internship for Field Instruction 1 - mainly Case Worker; Handled six (6) patients for case studies, three (3) complicated cases and three (3) simple cases. Experienced duty at Medical Social Work Department (Admin), Out-Patient Department, Emergency Room, Malasakit Center, Bicol Cancer Center, and Women and Children Protection Unit. Highlights during the internship: the social work students were assigned to be the emcees for the 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women; Conducted group session during their duty at Bicol Cancer Center, as well as interviews for cancer patients seeking medical assistance; Accompanied and help the social workers on duty in interviewing OB patients, Animal Bite patients, and other out-patients seeking for medical assistance at Out-Patient Department; Had interviews at Emergency Room - Social Service for patients to be admitted; Conducted ward visits and communicating with nurses and attending physicians of patients for case management; Had experience interviewing VAWC patients at ER-Women and Children Protection Unit; Assisted and observed the assigned social worker in interviewing a person deprived of liberty at surgery ward; Experienced admin aide duties and interviewing patients/patient’s family members for assistance of their hospital bills at Malasakit Center; Experienced enrolling unregistered and inactive registered members/patients, that are financially incapable, to Philhealth Point of Service (POS); and Post-internship, the social work student volunteered and partake in Medical Mission for Elderly at Barangay Joroan, Tiwi, Albay.
