Su-Lynn Goh
Mary is a nurturing lecturer who has played an important role in shaping and leading me to pursue my passion today. Back then in Ngee Ann polytechnic, I was a biomedical student who is really interested in art and design. That was when I took Mary’s graphic design class. Through her teaching and guidance, I started to develop a stronger passion for what I initially thought of as just a hobby. Mary encouraged me switch to an arts school and even offered to help me after I have completed my diploma in Biomedical Science. I was hesitant at first, but her words and actions really helped me gather the courage to take a chance and go after what I truly want. She even took time out of her busy schedule and we met up a year after the graphic design class to set up a portfolio for my university application. I am now doing very well in NTU School of Art, Design and Media and I am deeply thankful for what she did for me. I believe that all educators should be like Mary, sincere and have a burning passion in helping her students grow and fulfil their dreams. Being a good educator isn’t just about sharing knowledge, but building a character in the students to strive for their best. I will always be grateful for Mary’s help and guidance.

Mary was my Lecturer when I was studying in LASALLE College of the Arts. Her disciplinary guidance helped me rethink my mindset towards college, arts, and life. She has given me advice that helped me through my time in LASALLE. Even now, years after I've graduated, her teachings still help me through my career. Mary is one of a kind. Her transparent teaching style helped her stand out from others easily. She is able to identify each student's potential and pushes their limits regardless their attitude.
