Iโ€™ve been working with Greg for the past two years on a granular media-based thermal energy storage system. Over this time, I have greatly expanded my knowledge and understanding of bulk solids handling and storage thanks to Gregโ€™s willingness to teach me, rather than just hand me a solution. He is extremely knowledgeable in all things particle-related and if he doesnโ€™t know the answer, he has the resources to go find one. His light-hearted, easy-going nature makes him a pleasure to work with. I also highly recommend his textbook

My approach to consulting is to teach the fundamentals of powder handling to my clients so that we can work together as a team to design equipment, optimize the flowability of powders used in oral solid dosage forms, and solve solids-related problems. www.mehos.net My approach to consulting is to teach the fundamentals of powder handling to my clients so that we can work together as a team to design equipment, optimize the flowability of powders used in oral solid dosage forms, and solve solids-related problems. www.mehos.net

Worked on numerous projects involving bulk solids primarily in the chemicals, biotechnology, and pharmaceutical industries. Designed a cool moving bed reactor for converting biomass into syngas and another one for torrefying wood. Developed a novel container for preventing caking of pharmaceutical powders. In charge of sales and technical support of Schulze ring shear testers and Jenike & Johanson segregation testers. Lead engineer for several process development projects. Favorite project was developing and implementing a continuous granulation process for silica. Worked on methods for cleaning conductive carbon blacks for lithium battery applications and treating fumed metal oxides with silane coupling agents. Provided recommendations for storing, handling, and processing bulk solids. Silos, bins, and hoppers seem boring. No one notices them unless that plug up. J&J's do not! Designed gravity dryers for removing volatiles from plastics and biomass. Those projects definitely were not boring. I developed a cross-flow moving bed dryer for wood chips. It was a great project. Came up with a new spray-dryer based process to attach polymers to pigments; scaled it up at a toller, and then brought it Cabot facility. The product made a lot of money. I'm most proud of the carbon black fluffy surge hoppers that I designed. Carbon black is difficult to handle, but my mass flow tanks run like a Swiss watch! Lots of work with spray dryers. Modified the spray-drying process so that a parting agent could be continuously added and free-flowing powders could be produced. Worked on all scales of spray dryers including lab, pilot, and commercial. Lots of work with spray dryers.
