Black Women's Empowerment Conference

  Oversaw the planning for the 2nd annual Black Women's Empowerment Conference which occurred at Tufts University on April 9, 2022. It is open and free to all Black women and femme undergraduate and graduate students attending an institute of higher education in the Northeast and across the United States. The theme for the 2022 BWEC is Radical Self-Love. Our goal is to inspire conversations about care for oneself and one’s community, and to uplift Black women by holding in-person and virtual accessible lectures, panels, and workshops featuring Black women scholars, industry professionals, and influencers. With this position, I was required to: - Research prospective speakers/panelists for respective sessions and maintain active communication with them up to the conference - Worked collaboratively with other members of the planning committee to coordinate logistics All in all, it was remarkable to work it so many young and talented black femmes across the East Coast, even if our time together was short. I am please that this conference succeeded in curative a safe space for black femme to be their true, authentic selves. Show less
