Bio
Melissa Guerrero DeGravelles
Gloria supervised me for 16 months in my role as Coordinator for the UCLA Alumni Career Engagement Team. The opportunity to work with Gloria has been a highlight of my professional career. She is goal-oriented, a clear communicator, and a thoughtful leader. She has been an influential mentor to me and helped me identify and fine-tune skills that contribute directly to both my professional and personal growth. She is a dynamic leader and successfully navigated a team of 7 through the ongoing COVID pandemic, pivoting to virtual programming and building out our online presence to better serve our student and alumni audiences. I have only praise for Gloria and I look forward to continuing working with and learning from her.

Gloria Ko is a leading example of an ideal student affairs practitioner and a leader within the field of higher education. As a supervisor to supervisee relationship, I could not have asked for more. She was able to challenge me with new concepts, while supporting me with my ideas and questions. My personal development would not have been as expansive, if it was not for her care in my growth as a professional and an individual. As an observer of her work, I’ve realized that Gloria manages to delicately balance her role as a student advisor and programmer role seamlessly. Students naturally open up to her. She is able to provide them autonomy in their projects, but also the guidance and stability for each program to become successful.
