This is an awesome and challenging role that allows me to do both modern web development (responsive and static layouts and mockups) as well as Photoshop designs across a broad number of departments and projects.Maintaining and supporting the department CMS is a large part of this role, which lets me really get in there and test, investigate and get my problem solving mind to work.Meeting with different departments and developing solutions is another large part of this role, which has been fantastic. I am meeting new people constantly and working with clever and switched-on teams to develop out of the box ideas and software.HTML, CSS, JSP, Javascript/JQuery are the main technologies I use daily, as well as the Adobe Creative Cloud suite. • Graphic / Web Designer for Student Flights
      • Aug 2011 - Sep 2014

I was the Web Designer for Student Flights at Flight Centre. This role was quite a lot broader and more challenging than the title suggests, as the responsibilities were always expanding and keeping me on my toes. Some of the main things I dealt with on a daily basis were: • Create banners for the website, from creative provided from our print division • Designing new sections of the website, based upon discussion and wire frames created by the UX team, within the CMS provided • Edit existing HTML, CSS and Javascript to update and improve pages • Create HTML, CSS and images for Electronic/Email Direct Marketing (EDM) • Create mockup HTML demos of suggested pages (eg. Student Flights Responsive Mobile Website, Responsive Mobile Design of current pages, CSS3 replacements and improvements over currently used Javascript, examples of how a page may be improved and reshuffled to be more attractive to the consumers) • Create Flash animations for Google Advertising • Create Google GDN banners for advertising on partner websites • Create Vector designs using Adobe Illustrator for web banners, pages, EDMs • Meeting with Marketing, UX, SEO, SEM and Management to discuss current issues, improvements, ideas and current trends • Create Facebook and other social media HTML prototypes, banners, images, adhering to standards and rules (such as Facebook's 20% rule) • Create internal team and company artwork, using Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and/or InDesign • Retouch, re-create, re-colour or add to stock imagery using Photoshop Show less

After years of working for other companies doing design and development, I finally decided to create my own Web Design company called Zero Signal. Contracting to small companies and also designing full e-commerce and static website, I found this work to be very creative and rewarding. Teaming up with an excellent developer, I concentrated mostly on meeting new clients, designing up the pages that they had in their head and also creating the HTML and CSS shells. Other parts of my job included coding PHP, jQuery and Javascript, developing new and creative solutions for client needs. Show less

As Lead Designer at eMark, my role was to meet with the clients, get inside their heads and then create their perfect e-commerce website. This then lead to me mocking up the designs in Adobe Photoshop and once approved, I would cut up the design and develop their page, using XSLT, XML, HTML, CSS and Javascript. One of the key things I did at eMark was re-designing the XSLT and HTML templates for the entire system, to create a system that would allow for extremely fast prototyping of websites, as well as maximum design changes, without affecting back-end code. This role proved challenging, as web design was not the only part of my role. Constant communication with clients was a must and because of the personalised designs we provided, logo, catalog, EDM, email signature, business card and flyer designs were commonly asked of me as well.
