    • Community Organizer
      • Nov 2006 - Aug 2010

The Free Range Worker Co-operative is a federally registered non-profit worker co-operative that was contracted to run the administration and operations of the Beyond Factory Farming project (www.beyondfactoryfarming.org). My role as an organizer was to provide communities assistance when confronted by the expansion of industrial livestock agriculture and to promote sustainable livestock production. In this capacity, I participated in public hearings, organized public events, networked and collaborated with like-minded organizations, delivered press conferences, implemented public engagement actions, met decision-makers, researched, wrote letters, and made public presentations on a number of issues related to the mandate and vision of Beyond Factory Farming. Supported by Manitoba Water Stewardship of the Province of Manitoba, the water caucus helped develop capacity for smaller Manitoba NGOs that focused on water issues. The mandate of the water caucus is to network, share resources and persuade decision-makers to protect the water resource in Manitoba. As the coordinator, I helped facilitate these activities and was the principle author of “For the Public Good” a policy directive providing advice to the Minister of Water Conservation.
