Research activity on optical fibre data transmission and networks. Main activities included lab experimentation, mathematical modelling and simulation using MATLAB. -Designed and led lab experiment to investigate novel DSP(Digital Signal Processing)-based method to measure Multipath Interference (MPI) in optical links. Results published on the OSA Journal of Optical Networking. -Conceived and validated by means of lab experimentation a model explaining a product signalling failure caused by long-distance non-linear optical propagation. Results led to patent filing. -Created model and MATLAB simulator for highly-aggregated TCP/IP data packet traffic allowing for greater understanding on the impact on core optical networks of data transport. Main achievements: -Author of a patent for a novel low-cost signalling receiver solving a product feature limitation. US Patent 7184672 - Analogue maintenance detection.
