Angalia– meaning in Swahili ‘to envision’, ‘to see in your mind's eye’, is an International Registered Charity operating throughout Italy, the UK and Kenya. Its mission is to promote the advancement of education and of individuals’ development within economically disadvantaged contexts. Using the Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) model, the team and I developed an education community centre in the Kenyan town of Mtwapa (Kilifi District). Within my responsibilities as president of the charity, I designed the strategies for internal and external communication (including social media and members relations management and engagement); liaised partnerships (e.g. with Community Capacity Building Initiative -CCBI, and with the UN Housing and Slum Upgrading Branch of Nairobi); and organised frequent fundraising events .

During my 2nd year at University, I started JEB in the legal form of a Junior Enterprise to offer business consultancy to local SME’s, promoting the concept of youth entrepreneurship by gaining real-life experience within the professional world. The key event I designed and run (Brainstorming the future: The New Digital Age), featured three high profile guests including TED speaker Rory Sutherland, and had a turnout of over 300 people. The Team and I promoted the event with a strong advertising campaign (including graphic design of a poster, digital marketing practices for social media optimization, public relations, catering and logistics management). JEB is still currently operative under the supervision of JADE - European Confederation of Junior Enterprises.
