-
Feb 2019 - Aug 2019
This internship was part of a wider project which aimed at improving the quality and accessibility of the catalogue of Medieval Western manuscripts owned by the University of Edinburgh. In this role I have updated and improved physical and content description of several manuscripts, creating detailed records in a dedicated database (ArchiveSpace), which will constitute the basis of the new online catalogue of the collection.

Tutor
-
Sep 2016 - Aug 2019
I have prepared and delivered tutorials associated with courses of Elementary, Intermediate and Advanced Latin, and with a course on the Roman World. For Latin language I have given weekly tutorials in which I have explained different points of Latin morphology and syntax and marked students’ translations (both from Latin to English and from English to Latin); for the Roman World tutorials, I have led the students' discussion on a variety of cultural and historical topics linked to the Roman empire (ranging from the representation of emperors in Tacitus and Suetonius to the evidence of Vindolanda and life on the Roman frontier), as well as marking the students' mid-term and final essays for the course. ‘Literacy Through Latin’ is part of the wider ‘Iris Project’ whose aim is to introduce UK state school pupils to ancient languages and culture in order to strengthen literacy, as well as analytical skills. In the first year of my joining the project I have delivered classes once a week at Gylemuir Primary School and contributed to the planning and development of the curriculum. In the second year, I have taken up the role of coordinator: in this capacity, I have supported and supervised volunteers, liaised with schools, and prepared teaching material. Show less

Tour Guide
-
Dec 2014 - Sep 2015
I led tours at the Assembly Rooms, historical building located at the heart of Edinburgh's Georgian 18th century addition (the New Town), explaining the history of the building and illustrating its architectural and decorative features. Together with giving me a chance to convey my passion for Arts and History to the wider public, this experience has developed my ability to speak in front of an audience. In this role I have also carried out research to improve my knowledge of the building and of the New Town plan and my understanding of Georgian culture. Show less

I this role I worked on two linked projects. The first consisted in auditing pensions data. Due to the significant volume of data to be checked in short period of time, the role required strong organisational skills and an ability to communicate well and coordinate work schedules with colleagues. I was responsible for inducting and training three new team members. I managed their workload on a daily basis, set them tasks, and prepared daily reports of the team’s progress. The second project consisted in managing the correct implementation of the transfer of employees to a new national Civil Service Pension Scheme which launched in April 2015, using the audited data from the first project. In this role, I communicated with colleagues in HR and wider afield to inform them of the features of the new Pension Scheme and of the processes involved in the transfer, answered queries from the public, liaised with stakeholders, drew up reports and tested the functioning of the new scheme in the payroll system. I also managed a project to collect new pensions data and created a database to log the new data. Show less
