Maternal overconsumption of calorie enriched food during pregnancy increases the risk to develop obesity, metabolic syndrome, diabetes and neuropsychiatric disorders in the offspring later in life. There is a growing realization that such deleterious effects can be transmitted to the offspring across multiple generations. My research is mainly focused on understanding the mechanism behind the transgenerational transmission of abnormal metabolic and addictive like behaviors in the offspring induced by maternal overnutrition.
