I had the pleasure of working for Gillian during my time at Trent University. Gillian was an exceptional leader and is highly respected for her willingness to help her student staff in any way she could, both professionally and personally. She is well organized, provided clear communication at all times and created an environment with many opportunities for her student staff to grow. Additionally, Gillian is highly self-motivated and well capable of achieving anything she sets her mind to, which was reflected in her team. Any team would be lucky to have Gillian as an asset and leader!

One significant aspect of Gillian that stood out to me within her role as a leader was her genuine care about everyone's success within the team. Her ability to maintain a successful relationship with everyone stemmed from her ability to ensure that one felt important and cared for professionally and personally. As a result, I always felt the need to go over and beyond my responsibilities within Housing Services to ensure we achieved our purpose. Gillian is resilient, reflects integrity, and can remain calm in stressful situations. Good leaders are always good learners, and as such, she had always ensured to seek advice and input from her employees when it came to particular tasks. Gillian created an environment I loved working in, inspired me and always led by example. These qualities were always the distinguishing factor between being a leader and a manager. I am positive that whoever has the opportunity to be a part of Gillian's team or have her on their team will feel nonetheless and trust her decision-making capabilities.
