At BTC-ECHO, Germanys leading News Source regarding cryptocurrencies and DLT, I was responsible for chart analysis and data-driven fundamental analysis of new cryptocurrencies/blockchain projects. I was responsible for all the data-related parts of the Kryptokompass, one of the first blockchain-related market letters and write monthly research-focused articles therein. I made interviews with CEOs and spokespersons from interesting startups and huge companies. Furthermore, I was one of the two hosts of the BTC-ECHO Podcast.

I write articles, op-eds and tutorials about all things Crypto/Blockchain for BTC-ECHO. That includes reports about events I participated in such as the EMEA Blockchain Symposium hosted by Deloitte and interviews with different celebrities of the blockchain community. Furthermore, I analyze the price movements of Bitcoin and Ethereum (more to come). Finally, I co-authored three bestselling books about Bitcoin and Blockchain-technology.

At EuroNorm, a lead partner on behalf of the ministry of economics, I reviewed and monitored grant applications for R&D-projects proposed by SMEs in Germany. It was a really rewarding experience to learn of this completely different level of project management. I enjoyed to discuss project ideas with applicants, delved into interesting product ideas and learn a lot about the innovative potential in my country. I was project leader for several development projects and helped to initiate several of them. A strong focus of my projects was the transformation of products (pressure sensors and its controllers in particular) from R&D to manufacturing (and finally to the open market). In an environment like the R&D-department, the uncertainty of outcome in research projects challenges too rigid project management strategies which is the reason why I am a strong proponent of agile project methods which led me to Kanban. Metrology is a topic which overlaps with several fields of data science. As I love to play around with data to find out what stories it can tell I became the go-to guy regarding data analysis. I got the recorded data in shape, analyzed it to find correlations and discussed with others the underlying physical reasons. It was an interesting and rewarding task where I can happily say that a passion turned to a profession. Furthermore, I was assisted the product management for vacuum metrology. I discussed with the marketing about advertisement campaigns, discuss technical issues with customers etc. pp. It was a really exciting position at the interfaces of various product lifecycle stages.

Since the early beginnings of "Arbeitssicherheit und Messtechnik Giese" (Occupational safety and metrology) I shared the highs and lows of this company. I gained experience what it means to work on your own, that taxes can be rather annoying and that, with the right ambition, there is always a way to proceed. Beside these soft skills I got a fundamental knowledge about being a consultant for occupational health and safety - related questions, learned to use and develop measurement instruments/setups with a strong focus on testing electrical devices according to BGV A3 and MPBetreibV. Since October 2012 I primarily serve as a scientific consultant for metrological questions. (cf http://physik-arbeitssicherheit.de/)

My PhD thesis dealt with photoinduced chemistry on thin MgO films. More particular I studied the photochemical N2O dissociation and the reactivity of pre-generated atomic oxygen. The thesis was supported by the Cluster of Excellence Unicat (Unifying Concepts in Catalysis). During these years my UHV-expertise increased and I learned to analyze data in Wavemetrics Igor. I programmed a simulation of the researched processes in Wolfram Mathematica.http://www.diss.fu-berlin.de/diss/receive/FUDISS_thesis_000000037570

Since the technical expertise in my new working group - the working group of Professor Wolf - was rather new to me the first several months I worked under the supervision of a more experienced PhD student. I assisted him at his experiment and got in touch with UHV-technology and liquid helium cooling systems. My main task these days was to implement and align a THG-setup, a beamline similar to the one I used in my diploma days.
