As a head instructor I lead after school programs. Typically I am assigned to a different sport group everyday and teach students of a variety of ages. I also served as a TA for outdoor activities, supervising and engaging with the students, ensuring they stay productive while having fun. As a head instructor I lead after school programs. Starting out as a head instructor, I now play a big role in directing and assistant directing week long school break camps. I have a staff of around 10 coaches and the roster can range from 40-70 kids. This is a Summer seasonal position. I am the head of the basketball program at Edgemont Day Camp, this will be my 5th summer. It is exciting to develop new lesson plans for the incoming athletes I get every summer. This is a Summer seasonal position. My lesson plans will obviously vary amongst different ages but I will take you through an average program. I start with feedback from client. This gives me an initial sense of what is expected. An evaluation of the clients strengths and weaknesses will provide an effective system. Techniques will include footwork, control, versatility, agility and awareness. I will also try and develop an improved mental mindset during gameplay. I put sufficient effort into sharpening a players natural role which can boost the players most valuable talent. Every player is unique, there are fundamentals that need to be established regardless of age or skill, but I really enjoy watching a player perfect their natural given unique skill Show less
