The Miami Youth Climate Summit is a youth-led organization seeking to engage youth in climate solutions through an educational lens. Our team representing 11 local public and private schools organizes an annual event where students have the opportunity to hear from professionals and experts working in the climate movement across a variety of perspectives moving the needle within students minds from “what is climate change” to “what can I do about it?” Through this we also provide educators with resources to integrate our program into the curriculum. In 2021, our virtual event was attended by 1,200+ individuals from 18 countries across the world. Speakers spanned from Miami, FL to Puerto Inca, Peru. Notably, Danni Washington, the first African-American woman to host her own science television series, and Andres Ruzo, National Geographic explorer and the first scientist granted permission to study the Boiling River of the Amazon.
