Stockroom Assistant

As a stockroom assistant, I work with the stockroom staff to provide logistical support for Chemistry Teaching Laboratories. I prepare chemical solutions and handle hazardous waste for weekly experiments. I assist faculty, graduate teaching assistants (TA), and undergraduate students conduct experiments according to established safety policy. Courses I have assisted include the General Chemistry series and Chemical Biology Laboratory.

Laboratory Assistant

As a laboratory assistant in the Seldin lab, I analyze endocrine communication between the liver and the heart. Based on population genetics data collected from test subjects, mice, analysis is done through mechanical dissection of hormones encoded by the CRLF2 and LGAL9 genes through immunoblotting. Chosen hormones were prioritized based on previously identified heart failure pathways. Identifying the properties and regulatory pathways behind these hormones will assist in constructing the novel etiology and pathophysiology of heart diseases beyond heart failure. My tasks include performing benchwork tasks, preparing and sorting tissue sample, immunoblotting, building mathematical models, and handling test subjects. Show less

Learning Assistant

As a Learning Assistant (LA), I work with professors and graduate student teaching assistants (TA) to implement active and independent learning during the course. I lead weekly discussions and hold office hours to aid students apply acquired knowledge. I assist in development of LA trainees by providing communication instructions and performance feedback. I create course review material and hold review sessions for exams. Courses I have assisted include Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, and Learning Assistant Pedagogy. Show less
