The period August-December 2016 was actually the second period we worked together. In 2012 Gerwin, still as Naval Architect and I as just started Operations Manager spend 5 month together at SMIT Salvage. Our working relation was not that close in those days but what I can see is that Gerwin has professionally matured quite well since then. He gained a lot of professional knowledge about the salvage industry which in combination with his naval architectural education is a strong basis to tackle complex marine matters. With brief instructions and minimaal control he's able to timely deliver what is required. He comes up with alternative solutions and is not afraid to think out of the box which is the right attitude in the maritime industry nowadays.
