I have worked close together with Gert Trygve onboard Edda Fjord belonging to Østensjø Rederi, him as Captain and me as Chief Engineer over a longer time period. Onboard the vessel we both have our desks in the same office, so I have been able to observe how he operates in his job . Me as the rest of the crew that serves on the same shift, have had the pleasure to experience a person with high professional skills, good including leader and a person with impressive people skills. He has the talent to put tasks to the side when a fellow officer or rating knocks the office door whether to ask a professional question in regards to the job, or due to private concern. Always he gives people a welcoming smile, whatever rank or reason they have for their visit. Same goes for the authorities when they visit the vessel. He always win them with a smile and a willingness to find the answer to their questions if he cant answer from the top of his head. Gert leads the crew as a team and involves people in the run of the vessel in order to make everybody feel like an equal part of the team. He can of course make sound and clear decisions when that is needed. He puts his pride in always meeting the clients of the vessel with a smile and a professionally way in order to promote the vessel and company at highest level. At last I have to mention that he is a Master that put safety and his crew first!!!
