In 1953, the Housing Foundation purchased the three acre Lions View site in East Vancouver and began the development of HFBC’s first two buildings. Sixty-four years later, our mandate is still the same but our community impact has dramatically changed. Brightside Community Homes Foundation owns and manages 27 buildings comprising 945 units across the city of Vancouver. With assets of nearly $200 million, Brightside is one our province’s largest housing societies. Our Mission Statement: Build resilient communities, throughout Vancouver, with safe and secure homes, for those struggling to meet the demands of market housing. As Director of Operations, I oversee a team of dedicated individuals in their effort to keep our residents satisfied, to keep our buildings safe and secure, and to be able to perform preventative & predictive maintenance, not reactionary maintenance. Project manage various building upgrades including fire panels, elevators, LED retrofits and Building Envelope renewals. Hopefully, the 30 years of experience I bring will assist in management of the portfolio.
