Collaborating with the Financial Services Consulting business unit, I undertook several BI projects broadly classified in the following categories: Algorithm engineering: this involved translating judicial indemnity rulings into parameterized claim allocation algorithms and reporting on principle implications of different legal readings. Later on, I consolidated the algorithms under a user-friendly interface to manage inputs, scenarios, and outputs. Audit systems production: I developed online audit process and documentation management systems, enabling an integrated corporate conduct risk and insurance case audit, semantic analysis, reporting, and full audit trails using Access, SharePoint, and Azure blob storage as backend. Power BI solutions development: ETL (SSIS, M, and Python NumPy), backend data modelling, measures development (DAX), and data visualization. Show less

In collaboration with Sales, Marketing, Finance, and Logistics, this role involved two distinct activities: Process Improvement: developed a set of ETL procedures consolidated into a form-based tool to collect, clean and index business and market data, SKU mapping algorithms, deal setup forms, etc. Analytics: developed a BI tool based on SSAS to consolidate and analyse channel and operations data plus further extra dimensions. The enhanced analytic output included: * Customer segmentation and campaign planning (a proto-CRM platform). * Increased distributor engagement and consequently in-salon market share. * Improved pricing models for promos and SKUs. * Cartographic territory and operations report processed with GIS, Excel GeoFlow, Google Fusion Tables. * Enhancing operations’ analysis with demographic dimensions (sourced from the ONS). * Competitor intel and customer scouting through web crawlers/scrappers. This position involved exclusively highly versatile ad-hoc tasks focused on campaign development and market share growth. Can be grouped as: Business Data Analysis: Marketing/Opportunity/Sales (T0-T2)/E-commerce contexts. * Extraction: automated ETLs sourced from feeds (SharePoint), CRMs (SalesForce), ERPs (SAP, ORACLE, Navision) with rigorous validation, standardization, and normalization. * Analysis: qualitative/quantitative/financial KPIs in DAX / MDX, and R. * Reporting: Excel /QlikView /SharePoint /SalesForce dashboards. To name some: Deal Size/White Space/Gross Margin/Net Dealer Price analysis, EDMs/e-commerce performance, Rep performance, RoI, Installed Bases, post-mortems, Channel Sales Intelligence, etc. Business Development: by means of research (interviews, surveys, documentation) on business processes and meta/non-operational data I identified business requirements, patterns, gaps and SWOTs. The final objective was to propose and qualify possible means to improve operation. Show less

    • EU Payroll Administrator / Platform Developer
      • Sep 2009 - Mar 2012

On joining the SSC at its start-up, my targets were to set up from scratch and run a centralised payroll department for the company subs in 11 European countries. This required developing a whole platform to manage very diverse input (employee forms, tax cards, holiday request forms), payroll processing, and both country specific output (bank payment files, tax reports, payslips) and standardised company reports (GL/AP/CM/Management reporting). Needless to say, given the volume and complexity of each task the only way to succeed was automating and streamlining every aspect as much as possible using self-managed vba forms (ie. automated addressing to relevant manager for validation, direct write-in to the database, and automated on-request reports -much like a server, except without a server-) and algorithms for output validation.
