Als Vertriebsgeschäftsführer und später als Vorsitzender der Geschäftsführung der real,- SB Warenhaus Holding GmbH habe ich über einen längeren Zeitraum von 2007 - 2012 mit Herrn Gerald Wood im Rahmen eines Transformations-Programms zusammengearbeitet. Als engagierter selbständiger externer Berater und später als angestellter Bereichsleiter für Kundenorientierung war Herr Wood mit seinem Team dafür verantwortlich, die Kundenorientierung der rund 40.000 Mitarbeiter/innen in den über 300 Märkten von real,- deutschlandweit zu verbessern. Im weiteren Verlauf des Programms wurden die Mitarbeiter der Zentralverwaltung mit einbezogen. Diese Aufgabe setzte Gerald Wood mit hohem Engagement, Hartnäckigkeit und mit bemerkenswerter Begeisterungsfähigkeit um. Sowohl die Fokussierung der Organisation auf die Kundenbedürfnisse, als auch die Servicequalität in den Märkten konnten im Ergebnis deutlich verbessert werden. Im Jahr 2012 gewann real,- Deutschland einem vom Handelsblatt und der Universität St. Gallen vergebenem Sonderpreis als Deutschlands kundenorientiertestes Handelsunternehmen. Aufgrund seiner ausgezeichneten Change-Management Fähigkeiten übernahm Herr Wood auch die Verantwortung für den Bereich CSR.
