Prepare and present quarterly updates to the Retirement Board outlining private equity & private debt portfolio updates and performance information. Supervise a staff of 7 investment professionals and 1 support staff and oversee the department’s annual operating budget. Responsible for managing relationships and contracts with external consultants and vendors. Oversee the review and completion of legal amendments, consents, and tax filings. Ensure sourcing, due diligence and monitoring of private equity and private debt investment opportunities are completed within the context of NYSTRS’ strategic goals. • Involved in all aspects of transactions, including origination, due diligence, legal negotiations, and presentations for approval to the Internal Investment Committee and Retirement Board. • Participated in and or led the review of thousands of opportunities since 2005 during which time approximately $26.7 billion was committed to 284 funds across various strategies and geographies. • Maintain a network of contacts in the investment community to facilitate due diligence efforts and reference checks. • Review quarterly and annual fund financial reports, following up with managers as appropriate. • Attend annual meetings and participate on approximately 30 advisory boards.
