As a senior sales associate, I achieved a higher level of leadership and responsibility in both the sales and visual aspects of my job. I am required to open and close both the store and the POS', hence I am insured with my own set of keys, as well as helping run the shop floor and generally keep on top of things. I still carry out my VM duties alongside this, as well as keeping the stockroom organised.

As a VM assistant I have learnt how to dress mannequins, replenish the shop-floor based on the visual and commercial needs of the store, completing the delivery efficiently, and how to follow a directive. On several occasions, I was also put in charge of running new-flow - in doing so my role was to help the team but also lead them in fulfilling the directive to a high-degree of accuracy with high levels of standardisation. I also learnt how to style out rails, walls and tables based on the current directive, as well as rearranging it to better it, commercially and fashionably, once certain items had sold out or the floor needed a refresh. As well as my role on the shop-floor, I also kept the stockroom organised as this is where all the metalwork, marketing and window posters are kept.

My time here at Gap primarily taught me both customer service and general retail skills, including being able to simultaneously serve customers whilst maintaining impeccable standards, POS-training and cash handling. Here I particularly enjoyed the one-to-one contact with both new and regular customers coming into the store, and contact with these customers enabled me to enhance my up-selling and communication skills.
