I have been lucky to work with Georgina on a number of projects and on each she has enhanced everyone's experience. She is knowledgeable, capable, methodical and just as importantly, great fun. One of her great gifts is taking quite complicated information and making it fascinating for the lay person. She also has a rare touch of putting people totally at ease, whether it is small children taking their first swim out of their depth, or senior executives in an event setting. I'm just waiting for my next opportunity to work with Georgina.

    • Social & Environmental Manager at Soneva Kiri
      • Oct 2013 - Nov 2014

My role as Social & Environmental Manager at Soneva Kiri included working within and managing remote, but highly dedicated teams. In this position I was responsible for the sustainability practices within the resort, including developing innovative solutions to organic farming, responsible purchasing, recycling initiatives, emission reduction efforts and many more movement building ventures. My remit included being responsible for Soneva Kiri’s Social and Environmental Responsibility Fund (SERF). We invested this in community development programmes, which I developed and managed from the initial planning stages through to successful completion. My role was to be the inspiration behind these community development initiatives that would engage Soneva Kiri with the local community of Koh Kood. Within my responsibilities, I was also given ample experience organising and delivering sustainability training in a range of teaching environments. For example, when I was a swimming instructor on the ‘Learn To Swim’ programme at Soneva Fushi, Maldives. Despite living in an island nation, many Maldivian children did not know how to swim. The ‘Learn To Swim’ programme teaches Maldivian children, and their mothers, to overcome their fear of the ocean and to embrace ocean stewardship. This program was documented and made into the film; Sink or Swim: Learning the Crawl in The Maldives, finalist in the 2015 Blue Ocean Film Festival. This highly rewarding and successful initiative was born from the 2013 SLOW LIFE Symposium, which convenes world-leading business leaders, scientists, philanthropists, investors, cultural ambassadors and activists to work intensively on sustainability challenges and solutions during a three day meeting and then collaboratively for the next 12 months. Chaired by Jonathon Porritt. I represented Soneva Kiri at the 2013 and 2014 events. Show less
