Completed two contracts - 'Impacting a Pathway to Employment Project' with Volunteering Geelong. These projects recruited, trained and mentored young vulnerable youth to lead them to employment. The first two weeks upskilled participants followed by four weeks of volunteer placement to provide work experience and skills to help them secure employment. The projects were very successful with participants leaving the program with informed resumes and many of them securing work. Responsible to grow and sustain programs that support and increase Foodbank’s capacity to relieve food insecurity in Victoria. As Development Officer – Programs, my role was responsible to grow and sustain programs that support and increase Foodbank’s capacity to relieve food insecurity in Victoria. My main focus was to develop and implement the Farms to Families program, which delivered fresh free fruit, vegetables and dairy to disadvantaged communities through popup style farmers markets across Victoria. Community members attending the markets received enough free nutritious food to feed a family of four for a week in an environment with less stigma. I continued to oversee this program and developed new programs to provide healthy food to those who fall between the gaps whilst building social connectedness and maintaining dignity. The ‘Farms To Families’ program was nominated for two top awards by state’s peak health and volunteering bodies in 2017 - VicHealth’s Improving Health Equity Award and Volunteering Victoria’s Innovation Award. The program was awarded the ‘Happy Healthy Heroes Kids’ Choice Award at the VicHealth Awards in 2017. Show less
