      • In 2004 I began Rowing at Firbank Grammar. Instantly it was something I knew I would keep with me for the rest of my as I loved it so much. Each year, during a summer season I would continue to row in a quad scull crew at many regattas over the course of a season. My love for this sport spurred me to become more involved with sports at school of all different types and so I threw myself into Athletics, Cross Country, Soccer and Swimming. I thrived on being fit and healthy and vowed to keep this aspect of my life for a long time. I now coach rowing at Firbank Grammar and it is a huge passion of mine. I love to pass on what I loved so much to girls who are learning. It is also very rewarding to watch their skills develop and to nurture their success. In 2011 I was appointed as Junior Coordinator and was required to supervise all sessions, plan sessions and the overall program with assistance, to work together with my colleagues on crew selection and to provide mentorship for the students. In the 2012/2013 season, I took on an extra crew and coached Junior and Intermediate level of rowing. In the 2013/2014 season I took on a role of preparing and providing nutritious food to the students at regattas. This initiative was due to the high prevalence of eating disorders amongst the adolescent girls and the initiative sparked a great response among all year levels. The provision of food was also used as a means of educating the students about sports nutrition.

This placement was the second that I completed, throughout my degree. I undertook a three month placement with the Department of Human Services in the Child Protection Unit. I worked under the supervision of an experiences case manager and had the opportunity to liase with an expansive range of families and children in vulnerable situations. I was also able to work alongside numerous external agencies and community organisations in the south eastern areas of Melbourne, including South Melbourne, Prahan, Chadstone, Dandenong, Cheltenham, Mordialloc and even as far as Frankston.

This was the first professional placement I completed was at the Monash Oakleigh Legal Service, where I was able to develop an understanding of managing client caseloads, using counselling skills, undertaking psychosocial assessments and assisting clients with legal processes. I worked in a multidisciplinary team alongside predominantly a law student but also a finance student and was closely supervised by both legal and social work professionals.
