My main placement school is at Westbrook Lane Primary School, a mainstream primary school with a significant percentage of students with SEND - including autism, ADHD, SEMH needs and dyslexic traits. I adapt the whole class learning to support these learners in accessing the curriculum and plan differentiated activities where necessary. I plan and often deliver phonics and social development interventions, and work with support staff to ensure this is delivered to a high quality when it is delivered by someone else. I follow children’s EHCPs and IPPs to ensure they are getting the support they need wherever possible and work with all adults in school to create an inclusive environment for all students. My second placement was at Roger Cannon East SILC, a specialist SEND secondary school where my class of 9 students have various diagnoses including chromosome 7 duplication and microcephaly. I adapt the whole school curriculum to meet the class’ specific needs, working with support staff to ensure they can access the learning even while outside of the classroom. I plan and often deliver the speech and language interventions as directed by the schools speech and language therapist. I review the children’s documentation such as ECJP, SaLT reports and OT reports to ensure they have the right interventions, equipment and classroom environment to meet their needs in and out of the classroom. • Aug 2019 - Jul 2022

I worked to support children across the school with special educational needs, liaising with both teachers and parents to ensure each child's needs are being met. I planned and delivered interventions to students either as a group or individually to work on English, Maths and general mentoring and revision support as well as supporting in class with senior school Maths lessons. Part of my role was to organise and analyse the department’s data and collect evidence for special needs assessments as well as JCQ Requirements. I invigilated both internal and external exams, as well as facilitating access arrangements through acting as a reader and prompter for the students. Show less

I started as a voluntary teaching assistant then moved onto a full time role working with KS1 for 2 years. I then worked in KS2, working with small groups supporting their literacy and maths lessons. I also gave additional support in the classroom to those children who require it, listened to children read daily, and gave behaviour management support. As well, I ran a breakfast club with some other members of staff for the whole school, which around 60 children attended every morning. Two afternoons a week, I ran an after school club with another member of staff where we did craft and baking activities and different sporting activities. During the lunch break, I monitored the children playing on the sports pitch. Show less

    • Cost Controller
      • Sep 2014 - May 2015

My position was to review costs to the hotel and pay invoices. I had to work through the supplier statements and establish why the oldest invoices had not been paid. I worked with the managers at the property to reduce expenditure and better the relationships with suppliers. I also administrated the implementation of new systems in the property, training other employees and managers on how to use them and get the best results from them.

    • Revenue Auditor
      • Jul 2013 - Aug 2014

I carried out internal checks on the allocation of revenue, ensured procedures were being followed correctly and verifying charges posted throughout the hotel. I contacted debtors via email and telephone, ensuring that their outstanding debts did not reach the 60 day limit. I also assisted our Accounts Payable team by paying invoices that were outstanding. I was also the chairperson of the hotel’s ARC group which organises both charitable and social events for both staff and guests.
