Lead roughly 1hr long guided tours of the main house and property on the half hour. I designed my tour to focus on the names, stories and daily lives of the enslaved community based on historical documents left behind by White elites, as well as archaeological research and excavations over time. My focus was to relay historical truths backed with primary source documents and encourage guests to conceptualize the property “beyond the big house.” I also emphasized the property, landscape and architecture to be a part of greater efforts by White elites to control, surveillance, and further oppress enslaved individuals and communities on the property. Responsibilities also included processing sales of merchandise at the museum gift shop via Altru and Shopify, as well as tending to ticket sales at the site gatehouse. Designated Sunday shift leader, leading daily operations on-site to ensure visitor and employee satisfaction.
