I have worked closely with George for over 15 years in his capacity as the manager for Wildcat Cliffs Country Club. He is very driven and committed to his work and takes it very seriously. He's always responsive and professional, and always has a watchful eye out for making things better. He has his finger on all the functions of the club and pays close attention to everything that is going on so that it can be managed optimally.

Total Members – 462 • Average Age – 55 A dynamic leader who coalesced the management team and re-energized the service culture to deliver a consistently excellent, member-focused club experience. George has a proactive approach to managing the operations as well as inherently being approachable and motivational with staff leadership. Located on the west side of the Franklin Mountains at an elevation of almost 4,000 feet, Coronado Country Club is a scenic course that offers panoramic views of Mexico, New Mexico, and Texas to the southeast. This course resembles the desert tracks of Arizona and features plush fairways and greens that are considered some of the fastest in the nation. In fact, pros have prepared for the Masters here, and Nike Tour events have been hosted in this beautiful setting.

My staff remained engaged by participating in regular team meetings, mentoring, ongoing training, and projects. With an active employee referral program, team members were part of the hiring and team development process.➤ Addressed tight labor market issue by developing and managing a $2M employee housing complex with 36 bedrooms. ➤ Methodically researched recruiting resources to onboard 30 South African employees the Club in the following positions: bartenders, servers, culinary staff, cart attendants, golf course staff, fitness and pro shop attendants. ➤ Improved staff uniforms in all departments; revised employee handbook to ensure procedural improvements and all staff met goals and objectives.➤ Developed program with local gym to provide staff complimentary memberships, investing in the well-being of staff and improving morale.

    • GENERAL MANAGER / OVERALL STRATEGIC PLANNING AND MEMBERSHIP INITIATIVES
      • 1980 - Mar 2018

** HIGHLIGHTS **I responded to an economic downturn by developing innovative programs, such as, the under 60 member with 50% dues for seven years, or age sixty whichever came first for golf memberships. ➤ Developed aggressive relationship with local real estate community to mine leads for potential members. ➤ Stayed ahead of curve by carefully planning of amenity offerings (fitness center, croquet center with one regulation lawn and three-quarter size lawn, boat club, children’s playground, and picnic/fishing/ and walking paths). The fitness trend was extremely important in members’ and prospective members’ eyes. ➤Maintained full fiscal responsibility for Club with no operating assessments in more than 30 years. Replaced 8% of memberships per year, kept dues stabilized, and funded approximately $400K for capital repair and replacement through a partial funding of depreciation.
