Pia OLDERS

Georges is a man of great loyalty to his employees and to Group management. As rigorous and demanding expert, innovative and always constructive, he is concerned to involve all stakeholders in his projects and objectives. It was a pleasure to brainstorm with Georges and challenge the risk management policies and processes within its scope throughout the Group.

Marc Mounier-Vehier

George was very knowledgeable of process and equipment, committed to sustainability, able to develop multiple variable analysis, and very easy to communicate with.

In charge of preparing for the operations of a future industrial complex in the Malucku Islands, I de-risked the start-up, ramp-up and project operations phases by adjusting the engineering designs, sizing the human resources, and by preparing management systems. The choices made improved the IRR of the project by 2-points. ENGINEERING TEAMS MANAGEMENT: I led all specific operability and maintainability studies with the engineering teams based in Kuala Lumpur (10 people in owner's team, up to 200 engineers in EPCM team). I reviewed with the purchasing teams the specifications within the EPC contracts to make them coherent with scheduled performance tetss, the performance tests to run, and adjusted fiancial terms accordingly. DEFINITION OF THE RECRUITMENT AND TRAINING PLAN: After having defined qualitatively and quantitatively the future teams (2000 people, 14 trades, 54 job descriptions), with the help of the Indonesian teams, I drew up the selection, recruitment and training plans to meet local employment requirements. We have identified and established the bases of collaboration with the indispensable partners (recruiters, universities, ministry of education, local authorities ...) RISK MANAGEMENT: At the crossroads of experts in hydrometallurgy, Indonesian authorities, lenders and internal finance teams, I established the risk register of the start-up and operation phases, I supervised the engineers who simulated the ramp-up and reliability of the facilities, modelled operating costs. I merged these models with the risk register to produce a risk-based decision help to settle on OPEX/CAPEX/RISKS trade-offs. The optimization that followed allowed us to arbitrate and optimize project risk mitigation actions. STAKEHOLDER MANAGEMENT : Show less
