I have had the opportunity to see George in action while working with him at Armatec and on UWO’s Formula SAE team. George’s ability to adapt to new problems and apply his broad knowledge in novel contexts has always amazed me. He is eager to learn best practises and study successful business strategies. His best strength, however, is his courage to routinely challenge norms, conventions, and assumptions. I recall a time George was assigned to lead a development project. He had not worked on this product line previously. George grasped the concepts quickly and almost immediately identified a way the stress analysis could be improved. George developed a new analytical procedure that dramatically improved the accuracy of predicting the product’s mine-protected capabilities. George’s out-of-the-box thinking, combined with his passion and enthusiasm would be a major asset in any position.

I've known George for 6 years and have had the chance to work with George both on the UWO FSAE team and at Armatec Survivability. George has been a dedicated Alumni of the FSAE team and has been an integral part of the teams success for many years by providing technical and managerial advice to guide teams towards success at competition. When I first took over the engine manager position for the FSAE team I had very little experience in engine development and without George's electrical troubleshooting skills, it is doubtful I would have been able to produce running engine by the deadline. George's ability to diagnose problems based on symptoms has been invaluable to all engine and electrical managers and has influenced the way I currently tackle troubleshooting in my career. George's passion for simple and elegant engineering solutions is evident in any project George is involved in, and his perseverance and work ethic allow him to see seemingly impossible projects through to the end. Given the chance, I would gladly work with George on future engineering projects.

Returned to school to pursue a masters degree in composite materials. While there I joined the Formula SAE team to obtain first hand experience with constructing my own composite parts. Some highlights include: • Led structural design, analysis and manufacturing of the team's first ever composite chassis (monocoque) and composite wheels• Set up a professional grade composites laboratory using vacuum assisted resin transfer molding (VARTM) • Found community support to donate all the necessary composite materials to the team; brought in over $20K in new product donationsCompetition results:Formula SAE Michigan: 10th overall (out of 110)Formula North: 2nd overall (out of 18), 2nd in design, 1st in enduranceFormula SAE Lincoln: 2nd overall (out of 66), 3rd in design, 3rd in enduranceFormula Student Germany: 6th overall (out of 71)This year represents the teams personal best finishes including placing third overall from North America as well as the top Canadian team.www.westernformularacing.com
