He and his team have implemented software to maintain history of data lineage, classification, retention, and definitions. Training has been provided to data custodians to advance their ability to support data stewardship when the business areas are ready to move on to the next step towards true data governance. • Led the creation of an agency data strategy, introducing a strategy that outlines capability maturity, a vision for future analytical abilities, and supporting policies and standards. • Passionate about and highly committed to this important work for the agency. Fully recognizes the value of data governance – establishing a framework that makes the agency’s data meaningful – promoting and ensuring data that is available, consistent, understood, and meaningful for analysis. He has presented on the topic to executive leadership, building am awareness of the importance of data governance. • Data governance is now included within the SDLC process and gathering key measures that need to be reported upon while the project is being worked, rather than after it was implemented. • Led his team in collaborating with several business areas and partners to generate visualizations of key data for sharing with the public. The HHS dashboards have received broad recognition from local stakeholders but also nationally. This work included creation of new data sets and methodologies for validating data. • Led efforts to modernize legacy “ownership” of data extraction that pushed data to the warehouse, to enterprise data staff pulling data from source systems.
