My goals as Career Service Coordinator is to assist each student or graduate for employment in the world of work while maintaining a motivating and inviting department. I pursue employers via phone, email, and visit employer locations to secure employment opportunities and lob leads for our graduates. My proven success in building a rapport with employers is very important as they will allow me to be directly involved in delivering candidates for interviews and possible hire. My success hitting benchmark for the Vocational Nursing program 4 years in a row, and assisting 4 graduates into their career start per week motivates me to work closely with students offering workshops on creating resumes, career search, and preparation for interviews from attire to response to interview questions. Responsibilities also consisted of completing Daily data, weekly, and monthly placement reports.

    • Activities Director
      • Jan 2007 - Jul 2010

As the Director, I supervised recreational staff and trained them to assist with activities in a locked 120 bed psychiatric facility. I organized and planed new events such as themed fairs and BBQ’s. I networked in the community to seek the appropriate resources for each client’s needs. I hold group counseling where I provide the clients with different materials to assist each client in their rehabilitation to society. I am responsible for each client’s monthly reviews and documenting in their Minimum Data Set and Chart. As a director in a Special Treatment programs I gained knowledge in substance abuse counseling as this was one of the main programs offered at the facility. My abilities to accurately assess aided me in determining progression or regression and to develop appropriate interventions and goals. Meeting with consultants and obtaining referrals were also part of my duties. I possess excellent documentation, listening, and crisis intervention skills. I also organize informational lectures and workshops to better serve our clients discussing topics of alcoholism / drug abuse as well as how to plan leisure activities in the community. I would motivate clients to attend their assigned treatment groups and maintain good behavior to qualify to participate in planned sport events and off site recreational activities. My ultimate goal is to maximize the quality of life for each client and assist them in entering the community feeling comfortable and confident they will succeed.

    • Professional Assult Crisis Trainer
      • Aug 2006 - Jul 2010

PRO-ACT is Professional Assault Crisis Training. As PRO-ACT instructor I’ve obtained excellent public speaking, teaching, and counseling qualities. My responsibilities include; training and re certifying staff in crisis intervention, and restraint training. The main focus of the workshop was to educate how to safely and effectively deescalate crisis situations using preplanned methods while offering alternatives to engage client in healthy behavior. I train staff different techniques to redirect negative behavior while maintaining the integrity of the client. I also train staff to familiarize themselves with the threat level and the appropriate response all while keeping their plan for self-control intact. Restraint training was also part of the workshop but only utilized in situations when crisis communication was not effective and the level of danger called for a response to restrain. This was only done as a 2 person team to reduce the risk of injury to client and staff. Coaching would be offered by one person to the client on how to restore their well-being.
