I hit the supervisor lottery when George became my first direct supervisor out of graduate school. New to the professional world, George modeled essential leadership skills I would later strive for: George was empathetic and compassionate, and a great listener. I always felt heard and that my opinion mattered. George was present and supportive while also allowing me to make decisions on my own and learn from mistakes. George brought balance and calmness to our team - a must in the often unpredictable world of CQI and compliance. I am not sure I have ever expressed to George how this early experience was the framework for how I would later supervise and mentor others. I will never forget how George made me feel in the earlier years of my career. This is what I remember most and why it is an honor to share this recommendation.
