During my almost 7 years at Surf Life Saving Queensland I was honoured to be under the leadership and mentorship of George. Particularly in my final years George was and continues to be an integral part of my growth personally and within the organisation supporting me to progress in my career. George is an outstanding senior manager who provides motivation and great leadership to his team through his passion of the organisation. George can see a goal and work towards it leading his team along the way no matter how far or hard it it may be. The way in which George conducts himself as a leader is admired by many and I certainly hope that one day I’ll have the ability to lead just as well. George will be an outstanding asset to any organisation.

I had the pleasure of working under George in my time at Surf Life Saving Queensland for almost 8 years. George is by far the best and most influential Manager I have ever worked under and alongside. George guides without micro-managing. He allows his staff to reach their potential through his ability to lead by example, express and ignite passion, mentor, encourage and make you feel appreciated. In my most formative period ‘growing up’ in surf, he trusted me with some big projects and allowed me to gain skills, knowledge and experience I would have never achieved anywhere else. He taught me to be calm under pressure, to keep my eye on the prize, be passionate, motivate people around me to believe in a vision, and help them achieve it. These skills are so ingrained in me that they have transferred into all aspects of my life, and were often noted in my work as a Chef, at times where others would crack, I’d still be calm, level headed and able to get a job finished. At the forefront of his mind is always the greater good of the organisation, and he exudes passion in everything he does. He has changed the lives of hundreds of people through his philanthropic work, and I know many who model their leadership style off George’s. He creates better humans through his leadership, and he ensures his staff know the underlying reason behind the job they’re doing. He sees bigger picture and is meticulous in his pursuit of achieving his visions through developing his people to help him achieve them. He would be an asset to any organisation and would ensure the strategic development of any service and staff is met and exceeded. I can’t speak highly enough of this man.
