The VHA Innovation Ecosystem has established a growing roster of National Centers of Innovation to Impact (NCi21I), which I was tasked with advising on how to set up, coordinate and develop. These centers have established new healthcare possibilities across the enterprise in cutting edge fields such as bioprinting, AI/ML, assistive technology, and more. With a nationwide footprint and access to an unprecedented talent pool and knowledge base, the NCi2I centers are capable of interfacing with internal and external stakeholders to develop and deploy cutting edge innovative solutions rapidly and efficiently. Additionally, I planned and implemented a systematic mechanism by which VHA Innovation Ecosystem enables co-development of emerging technology solutions through collaborative processes with both internal and external stakeholders.

Specialty interests include oculomotor research and navigated transcranial magnetic stimulation. Through meticulous planning, I have built a coalition and created a world-class, multidiscipline research center. • Direct the conception, research, development, licensing, regulatory approval, and international sales success of a novel diagnostic test for Parkinson’s disease and over 28 other neurological disorders, some of which may be diagnosed in pre-clinical stages. • Oversee the protocol development process, oversee data generation and validation, and conduct clinical data review/query resolution to ensure consistent, quality data review. • Translate complex technical neurological research, diagnosis, and algorithms to layman’s terms for engineers, lawyers, and physicians. • Through extensive research, discovered and invented a novel and unique method to differentially diagnose numerous neurological diseases with high accuracy, some of which can be detected >10 years preclinically. • My research has a $1 million grant awarded from Michael J Fox Foundation investigating the eye movements as a clinical and pre-clinical biomarker in diagnosing Parkinson’s disease as the principal Investigator at the McGuire VAMC. • An additional $480,000 DARS CNI grant was awarded as the principal Investigator, utilizing TMS to study cognition in a TBI population. • In 2022, I received the Federal Labs Consortium Impact Award, the first Lab/research within Veterans Affairs honored by the Federal Lab Consortium, which oversees all laboratories within the US federal government. • Additionally, I support numerous other researchers and physicians in their research interests, and manage a portfolio of research protocols within and outside of the PADRECC.
