Networked Scholar
-
Jul 2014 - Jun 2019
My relationship with Herbert Smith Freehills began as part of a 5-year opportunity in the 2014 cohort of the Networked Scholarship Scheme. This internship is a development scheme that allowed me to benefit from Business and Legal workshops provided by Herbert Smith Freehills and allowed me to expand my network of contacts. My experiences as part of the Networked Scholarship Scheme included many developmental workshops ranging from presenting skills to international networking, a networking trip to Herbert Smith Freehills' office in Paris and an opportunity to pitch Herbert Smith Freehills' legal and business services to Investment Banking giants Goldman Sachs, where I undertook the role of Added-Value Services and Pricing Specialist.

Rates Executive
-
Jul 2017 - Sep 2018
Returning to Herbert Smith Freehills as a Rates Executive, I was tasked with the negotiation, identification and application of discounted payment rates to individual cases and clients to ensure that each monthly bill sent to each client designated the correct hourly rate for the lawyers used, and therefore the correct monthly cost for all of the global offices. I was also tasked with managing the transfer of misplaced legal timesheets as well as writing off any timesheets as previously agreed between the client and the subsequent legal teams. During my tenure, ‘Expert’ was the software used for the maintenance of both rates and timesheets. Shortly after my arrival, the software underwent a multi-million-pound global renovation to ‘Expert 2.0’. Not only was I highly involved in global testing procedures to ensure its effectiveness but was also part of a global hub of technical assistance to both PA’s and lawyers alike during the initial transition period; answering a range of complex queries over the phone regarding the system’s use daily.
