In August 2015 the Company made over 25 employees redundant this included my own role as SHEF Manager, I am now looking for a new position Continual health, safety and environmental improvements and behavioural changes of employees and managers. Improved both OHSAS 18001 (company cancelled certification Aug 15) & ISO 14001 standards. improved Risk Assessment reporting and introduced a better Near Miss reporting system that all employees now use. In Aug 14 I've started a better CIP in respect of Fire awareness and safety across the whole site. Implemented new hazardous waste controls Work closely with the Environmental Agency and site Permit issues, got the latest EA report (Jul 14) delivered with a zero score after a 3 hour site assessment. Lots of work to do with CIP in respect of SHEF but worth sticking with to make it a safer site for all employees and visitors

H&S Consultancy just wasn't for me, I prefer hands on and correcting the problems instead of assessing and handing over a report to a company who may be struggling. You don't get to know what the employees are really working with unless you get to know them and change their behaviours and handing a report to a senior manager just doesn't do that. SKA was a nice outfit though to work for if consultancy is your domain H&S Consultancy just wasn't for me, I prefer hands on and correcting the problems instead of assessing and handing over a report to a company who may be struggling. Facilities Manager with Welcome Break but ended up establishing the sites Health & Safety policies and Energy Savings. After a utilities assessment and corrective action completion I saved the site 23k over the final 6 months on electricity cists alone. Spent almost 30 years with the Sappers, loved it, best Corp in the British Army. Ups and Downs but met fantastic team players throughout my career apart from one blue blood CO who went out his way to ruin it towards the end. Still every place has them and he is probably a Brigadier by now but hey ho you have to keep smiling! Started at Chepstow then progressed through Aldershot, Neinburg, Antrim, Belfast, Chilwell, Chatham, West Moors, Hameln then finally 6 years in Antrim and finally in 2006 (December) - Civilian
