George was a brilliant, hardworking and tenacious student who always gave of his best in everything that he did. He was vry focussed on his work and was not easily distracted by his peers. I believe that George will do very well in whatever he chooses to do in his career.

Went to Tijuana, Mexico for 10 days to build a house for a family in dire poverty. Went with Urban Saints and Amor. Whilst we were there, we lived as the povertous Mexicans did - with only a hole in the ground for a loo, unsheltered sleeping conditions, and their food (not your stereotypical nacho's and enchilada's!). While I was out there I improved my interpersonal and social skills, I also improved my patience. Mexico has caused me to become a more rounded person, who is well aware of the fact that there are too many people who are living in dire poverty, and that there are too many people who are oblivious to this sad, but true fact. I would gladly go back in a heart beat, and I am looking for other global projects around the world which make a difference to people's lives. Show less

I assisted the veterinary surgeons and veterinary nurses in any tasks that need doing. I help prep patients for theatre and occasionally am involved in post-op care. I aided residents in moving to and from their room's, the dining area and the lounge. Due to my age I was not able to complete personal care, but was able to do everything else: transport, feeding and just have a general chit-chat. I found it very rewarding working with the elder people, I have gained experience in: stroke care, care for elderly with alzheimers and general etiquitte. I undertook 4 days of work experience at Barrow Hill. I had to clean the canine ward and feline ward, I also oberved dental surgeries and consultations. It has given me a better understanding of what being in the veterinary career will involve. One member of staff told me they were impressed with my hard work and that I was very thorough.
