    • Project Engineer (Werkvoorbereider)
      • Apr 2017 - Aug 2022

As a project engineer (werkvoorbereider) I focused mainly on multi-story parking garages. Notable projects include P1 Extension and P3 Extension, both multi-story parking garages located at Schiphol International Airport, and a parking deck for Amphia Hospital in Breda. In addition to these projects, I coordinated the installation of a number of noise barrier foundations at the IXAS project and have worked on a number of tendering projects. Working language is Dutch. Parking garage P1 Extension was a fast-paced design-build project realizing more than 550 new short-term parking places in less than a year. Parking garage P3 Extension is a design-build project extending the existing P3 long term parking by an additional 2500+ parking spaces, upgrading the façade, adding a roof over the entire structure, and upgrading the lighting systems. Parkeerdek Amphia Ziekenhuis is a 300+ modular parking deck to extend the staff parking capacity. The modular parking deck was built in three phases to expand the parking capacity while not hindering the current parking needs. My responsibilities on these projects include: project planning, 3D & 4D modeling, drawing and design review, quantity take-off, procurement and subcontractor selection, contract management, project work instructions, quality inspections, safety inspections, cost monitoring and project finance control. Main work activities under my responsibility included deep foundations, in-situ beam foundations, steel structures, prefab channel plates, concrete finishing layer, electrical & water installations, interior finishing work activities, floor coatings, street paving activities, and landscaping. • Package Engineer Trainee
      • Jul 2016 - Dec 2016

As a Package Engineer Trainee, I assisted the Package Manager with the interior finishes on the $250 million Julius Nyerere International Airport Terminal 3 Building in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. As a team of two, we were in charge of the engineering of all interior ceilings, walls, floors, doors, windows and cladding finishes. I was responsible for handling RFIs, quantity take-off, material approval, method statements, creating shop drawings, coordinating between interfaces, site inspections, and preserving site safety. Success on the project meant effective collaboration and communication. I worked with many different nationalities and cultures in a variety of positions within the diverse BAM International team and with the project consultant, subcontractors, and suppliers. The fast-paced and challenging project demanded quick-thinking, innovation, creativity, and dedication. This opportunity built a solid foundation for my career as a Package / Field / Office Engineer. • Feb 2016 - Jun 2016

For my Master Thesis Project I designed and developed a geographic tool for a local start-up, Fastned. The tool analyzes urban environments and locates the best locations for electric vehicle fast-charging stations. The research method is combination of Geographic Information System (GIS) and Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) which implements expert opinion into the decision making process and provides a visual, geographic solution. The research identified 11 selection criteria which were carefully combined using expert knowledge. Results showed the top 10 location in the case study city of Amsterdam. Key challenges included; learning how to effectively use the software QGIS, gathering realistic and accurate geographic data, and developing selection criteria for an innovative new field. In the end, the tool selected fast-charging locations that are inline with the Fastned vision. Show less

As a personal Energy Advisor, I worked with Boulder County landlords and homeowners to improve their property's energy efficiency and comfort. The first action was educating clients about building science and energy efficiency, and training energy saving habits. When a client moved forward with a home upgrade, I continued support with finding local contractors, assisting with rebates and anything in between. Over my time at Populus, I advised 900+ clients with a 68% retrofit rate which averaged 20% energy savings per home upgrade. Clients I supported invested $2.25 million in their homes and local communities, and were rewarded with $250,000 in rebates and incentives. Excellent customer service was the top priority at Populus which was reflected in the success of the start-up. Apart from solidifying my understanding on building science, I was able to strengthen my ability to build a professional and meaningful relationship with clients. Show less
