It's not often you run into someone like Geoffrey, with both breadth and depth of experience in as many areas of design practice. Our work together began with him as a mentor to me when I first joined Teknion for a half decade, to where I then transitioned within the organization and we became colleagues working in both separate and integrative roles for another half decade. During this timespan there were many special moments and projects we shared together. However, if I were to isolate one particular journey, it would be one that reframed my appreciation for our craft with the often undervalued and unrecognized field of Colours, Materials and Finishes. Without going into the tiring specifics we delved deep into a systemic problem that all our competitors including ourselves were facing, -- how to unify materials that are perceived at the human level to be the same, but are fundamentally different at the scientific level. This led us through a gauntlet of supply chains, eventually uncovering down to the root of the industry. Where we then became a bridge between disparate suppliers and developed methodologies to gain control and unify the product. What started as a transitional singular project requirement, evolved into something much more transformative for the company. This led Geoffrey taking on the role of CMF director, the first time in Teknion's long history. We continued our efforts to overhaul the entire CMF library, bit-by-bit, ranging over a very large spectrum of material types and compositions and how they would holistically be applied for human use, both emotionally and practically. To close, time reveals a lot about a person, and what always remained constant to me was observing Geoffrey's care, passion, sensitivity and tireless commitment to not only the challenge ahead but the people presently involved. Geoffrey's cross boundary nature would be an asset to any creative team.

I worked with Geoffrey on many projects and in multiple roles at Teknion for over 15 years. Geoffrey brings a wealth of experience and a thoughtful and organized approach to his work. I especially appreciate Geoffrey's proactive attitude, and his view to strategy and cyclic planning of Product & Finishes design that spans years. Also, he shares my sense of humour which always helps : )
