  In 1992 I sold my own home and purchased commercial land in Parramatta for a garden centre, indoor plant hire and landscaping business. Through hard work, my business received the 1996 Parramatta Regional Award for Service and Excellence. Through first hand experience, I know the challenges facing small businesses. Recognising that small businesses needed a wide range of financial and business skills, and with the support of the University of Western Sydney, I established SMExcellence, an initiative to help small businesses build and expand their enterprises.
