Colchester Garrison Redevelopment, UK: Team Leader with responsibility for the design of the water, sewerage and stormwater infrastructure for this £2.2 billion, 109 hectare PFI redevelopment project for the UK’s Ministry of Defence. Stormwater infrastructure incorporated conventional piped systems; separation of flows into existing combined sewers; and extensive use of a variety of sustainable urban drainage systems. These included infiltration ditches, swales for control and disposal of excess overland flood flows, and vortex controlled stormwater connections to the main trunk storm drains coupled with off-line balancing pond/infiltration basins. MicroDrainage suite of programs used in the hydraulic design to model the interaction between the different components.
