At Bayer Healthcare Diagnostics I worked with Gene for almost 2 years on the device information management system. It’s a .NET based distributed data driven high-availability application. It has been developed in a highly regulated environment by a skilled team of software engineers which Gene was integral part of. Gene worked on almost all layers of our system – User Interface, Business, Data Access, Communication and Database. Being recognized as a seasoned engineer Gene had been often given assignments other developers tend to avoid. On a number of occasions Gene lead our team to the complete and very efficient solutions for the complex technical problems staying on our way. Gene was a great assert on our project team and his technical expertise was always at the highest level.

Gene acted as an architect for many customer projects that I was managing. Gene was always very thorough in his understanding of the business and techinical requirement for the project. For all of these projects he had defined the archiecture that was optimal for the business requirement and cost effective from the customer and our perspective. I wpuld highly recoomend him as an architect and will hire him myself if such an opportunity arose.

I propose, invent and implement computational geometry analysis of the CAD models, that is used to determine manufacturing costs. I also play a role of the "hard-bug guru", investigating and solving gnarly issues in every layer and component. Principal Software Architect responsible for the solution design, pre-sale support, and technical supervision of several multi-locations teams on parallel project tracts. Some of the projects (over 30 total) *Architect responsible for design and implementation of the portable SDK for the integration of the physical access devices with the security management software. Follow up projects were actual integrations with the industry leading security providers including Microsoft ActiveDirectory, Lenel and S2. Technologies included portable C, OpenSSL, ASN.1, TCP/IP, C#, ActiveX, SQL Server, MySQL Linux and Windows platforms. *Architect for the leading data aggregator’s order fulfillment reengineering. Project included conversion of the existing system of selling the educational personnel data from AS/400 to Biztalk/SQL Server platform. Complexities came from numerous tight integration points with the existing infrastructure and a large number of underspecified business rules. Show less

Designed, implemented and tested a scalable, highly-available financial sell-side service. Middleware was implemented as a multi-threaded cluster-capable C++ service on Linux. The back-end was a sophisticated PL/SQL layer on Oracle 9.2; the frond-end a J2EE EJB-based Web application. Linux experience included overcoming bugs in gcc, standard library, binary tools, Oracle and third-party libraries using gdb, valgrind and logs to produce highly dependable and very fast OLTP system.
