I worked with Gemma on the Mastercard Foundation grant at Moringa. Gemma was the lead project manager and worked with me to set up the Monitoring and Evaluation system to capture and analyze the data for the donor reporting. Gemma has excellent time management skills and is a clear and effective communicator. I enjoyed working with her as she was always prepared for meetings and kept communication clear and concise so we met all the deadlines. I would highly recommend Gemma as a project manager.

Gemma is an outstanding professional and a tenacious, articulate and creative fundraiser who is passionately committed to the development of African youth. Gemma played a pivotal role in the very substantial task of developing the wonderful International School Moshi (ISM) into UWC East Africa, United World College's second school on the Continent. I can recommend her highly to any organizations in Africa, seeking to bring in key expertise to drive strategic growth.

Through all of our work at inHive so far we have seen our impact on a small scale and know that it can reach a greater number of people and thus solve larger challenges that are bigger than one community. At inHive we are now re-thinking our potential impact in networks through this larger system and societal change. This means creating a stronger global team with a senior leadership team with my role leading the organisations operations on this senior team which includes: finances and accounting, stakeholder and partner relationship building, public relations and member engagement, HR and oversight of all the projects. I work on building awareness and a brand for inHive finding speaking opportunities, creating materials for shared learning and coordinating research projects across the globe.

inHive supports partners to develop and grow networks that enable communities to leverage existing resources and amplify impact on their local and global communities. We do this through working closely with diverse partners from around the world – from school networks in Pakistan, to youth leadership programmes across Africa, to global collaborative education partnerships – to build skills and expertise, design network structures, and facilitate participatory methods and collaborative activities for shared engagement, learning, and impact. Our Vision: A world where a young person’s background doesn’t determine their life chances. Our Mission: To enable the access of millions of young people to high-quality networks and relatable role models that support better and more equitable life outcomes. My role is to lead on projects for organisations looking to set up networks for social good and social justice using their alumni. I conduct desk-based and on the ground research to create reports with recommendations for the network and then support the organisations in creating value, processes and evaluation through MEL and learning questions. I have led projects with with Mastercard Foundation, Windle Trust International, Ignite Philanthropy, RUFORUM, FAWE and Career Accelerator.

My role here is to create valuable and sustainable partnerships to help support and expand the organisation. I created the fundraising strategy, worked on the rebranding of the organisation for optimal visibility, mapped out potential partnerships and guided proposals for funding. I have won a $12,000 Facebook grant (the only research grant they gave out in the region), £40,000 EU funding among other funding wins with organisations such as UNESCO, UNDP and UK media organisations.I have been part of the drafting of South Sudan Cyber Data Laws policy and because of this we are regularly called upon by government and NGOs to consult on hate speech mitigation. The organisation has worked in South Sudan, Ethiopia, Cameroon, Kenya and Uganda and is expanding all the time.Defy Hate Now is a non profit organisation working to end hate speech through workshops, community led initiatives and online digital monitoring which is based in South Sudan. Defy Hate Now is also one of the leading entities that work on providing data-driven solutions to the problem of hate speech, fake news, and misinformation on South Sudan, our work focuses on creating a framework for increasing trust between stakeholders in South Sudan through mobilizing civic action against all forms of hate speech and incitement to violence in South Sudan.

I created, managed and won a $9 million Mastercard Foundation 'Young Africa Works' grant to help support scholarships and course development, the first to a profit-making organisation for the foundation. I managed the internal and external stakeholder process, created the 'Theory of Change' and created the final proposal.I created partnerships to help support Moringa's growth across Africa. Part of this is to source donors for our scholarship program which helps develop talented individuals who are financially undeserved. Working with the Outcomes team, I help create partnerships for internships, graduate employment and business expansion.Growing Moringa's business across the continent allows the technology sector to develop and create more paying, formal jobs as the skills they need are available locally. We partner with corporations, local hiring partners and foundations.
