As the ground level and required flood defence levels vary along the length of the scheme, the flood defence construction will vary depending on the specific site arrangement and constraints. Typically, the wall construction will be precast concrete walls, with insitu reinforced concrete panels used to accommodate significant changes in alignment, steel sheet pile walls are also proposed for specific sections to mitigate seepage under the flood defence wall. At various locations it will be necessary to provide Up and Over structures to ensure continued access along the cycle path while still providing a continuous passive flood defence. These locations will be very visible and prominent post construction and the landscape design of these areas will include additional planting and wall cladding or patterned form liners as already mentioned to lessen the visual impact of the structures. As part of the works it will be necessary to close the existing cycle path for the duration of the works. In order to facilitate this, a formal cycle path diversion will be created to safely move cyclists from the current route to an alternative outside of the construction area. Show less
